Heads Held High

I haven’t written about Arsenal for some time, I know. We went into the match knowing we had all to do in this leg having been beaten at home. Well, we know Arsenal. They never make things easy for themselves. Everyone had written us off and to be honest, I was struggling to be optimistic and realistic about it.

What do you know, we scored in the third minute thanks to Giroud who scored his first goal since the match against Liverpool. Let’s hope the goal drought is over now although Theo’s doesn’t seem to end yet.

Strangely, we managed to contain the home side with Fabianski in goal for the first time in over a year rarely troubled. Even the defence was encouraging!

Koscielny added a late second after the early first and for a while it looked like we could have done it - had we not made mistakes towards the end. Still, it was dignity in elimination, victory in defeat and a rare humbling of the Bundesliga runaway winners.
