The weekend didn’t start well.
I went back to micasa on Friday, braving the jostling pushing crowd on the Komuter and then enduring the long wait for the bus. I had planned on going out on Saturday and thought I’d do my laundry on Friday evening itself. So I collected the towels and bed linen and other items that needed laundering and loaded them into the washer. I was surprised to see the drum was full of water then remembered that I had forgotten to turn off the water supply the last time I did my laundry and woke to a flooded kitchen the following morning (yes, I like to do my laundry at night).
I turned the water supply on and was shocked to see water spilling out of the rubber (?) grip that held together the tap and the washing machine hose. This wouldn’t do, I thought. I told D about it and she came by later as she said she knows how to fix it, having done the same to her washer.
As I do not possess any tool box (DIY is not a hobby of mine), D went back to her car to get a tool to prise the grip off the tap. And lo behold, half of the tap came off too and showered the kitchen with water. Bloody hell, it’s déjà vu all over again. I ran outside to turn off the main water supply and being me, had to run out three times before the water was turned off.
So now I had a washing machine full of soaking dirty clothes, half of a tap and nothing to connect the tap to the machine. I told D to go home and that I’d get a real plumber to come the next morning instead. Frantic calls were made in my attempt to find a plumber before finally a colleague agreed to come over.
He came, looked at the situation and declared he knew exactly what to do. He said he’d go to the hardware store first thing the next morning to get the parts required. I asked him repeatedly if he really did know and he said yes, having done the same to his washer.
Well, there was nothing else to do except wait for the next morning.
I woke up early on Saturday as usual and proceeded with the usual domestic exercise. My colleague only came at close to 11 am and I was close to falling asleep again. He came, he repaired and he left, all within 20 minutes. That was fast, I thought.
It was already noon by the time the laundry was done so I decided to just stay in. I prefer going out before 10 and not later when more people are about. And it was a good thing I stayed in, as some roads were closed due to the Police Day celebration and the concert at KLCC.
Just when I thought that was it, I received an email later in the day informing that one of my flights had been retimed – to two days earlier. What the flying eff? I was angry and not at all pleased of course. I had to call an international number (thankfully, the connection was fast and I was given three choices, one of which was an option of a refund which I settled for) and then I had to make alternative travel arrangements. I pondered over my options and ended up sleeping way after 2 am.

Thankfully, Arsenal managed to lift my moods with the home win on Saturday following the hard-fought one-nil win at Everton in mid-week (and guess what, van Persie didn’t score in any of the two matches). What a turnaround, especially when you think of where we were roughly four weeks ago. Even I must admit that there were times when I wondered where this season would take us and if we should be resigned to the fact that we would be playing catch-up with the hateful scums until the last day of the season. To say it is a dream to find ourselves now in this position is an understatement.
Bad news for Bukayo and a big challenge for Arsenal
